Plasma MountsOne of the advantages of a plasma television is the array of innovative mounts available. The most commonly used plasma mount is the wall mount, which has a few different types. The flat wall mount is the cheapest, most popular, and slimmest: it adds less than 2 inches of depth to your screen. You may also choose a tilt wall mount for your bedroom or above the fireplace. A tilt wall mount adds 4-6 inches in depth, but has the advantage of tilting as much as 20 degrees down. With all wall mounts, because of the weight of the screen you must first locate the studs in your wall, then attach the mount to them with the appropriate hardware. Some of the less common plasma TV mounts include the articulating wall mount and the ceiling mount. Articulating wall mounts are useful for sports bars and libraries. This type of mount adds a 120 degree swivel range back and forth as well as 10 degrees up and down. The ceiling mount, used in combination with a tilt wall mount, is a slim pole that ranges in length from 24 to 43 inches. Ceiling mounts are often seen in airports and hospital rooms, but they can be used to great effect in bedrooms. Popular Plasma Television BrandsAlthough Philips was the company that first brought plasma television to the attention of the public in 1998, today there are many competing popular brands. Currently Panasonic dominates the plasma market with 4 of the 5 top-selling models, but people all over America are buying flat-screen TVs from Sony Plasma Television, Pioneer Plasma Television, Zenith Plasma Television, Hitachi Plasma Television, Sharp Plasma Television, NEC Plasma Television, and Gateway Plasma Television, among many others. |
